HSRC Strutt Your Mutt (Walk to Honor Bodie)

The Humane Society of Richland County will hold its 2021 Strutt Your Mutt event on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 9am-12pm.  The event (which historically has taken place at the Richland County Fairgrounds) will take place in the Brickyard, located at 21 West Temple Court in downtown Mansfield.

"This year we decided to change things up from previous years by really focusing on the strut," said Managing Director Linda Chambers. "The main feature of this year's day will be a community dog walk with Humane Society adoptables in attendance. We also really encourage the public to bring their well behaved four-legged family members to join us."

There will be a 1/2 mile downtown loop walk or a 1 mile walk for people to choose.

Operations Manager Toni Ross explained the special meaning and theme for this year. "This year's Strutt is bittersweet for the staff because we are walking to honor one of our own. Bodie, an elderly terrier mix spent a year with us and passed away before he was ever adopted. His situation broke all of our hearts, and yet we are grateful that we were able to provide him with food, medical care, and love during his time with us. He didn't die on the chain that he lived on for most of his life. The community's support is what allows us to care for so many deserving animals like Bodie."

Along with the 1/2 mile and 1 mile walk, The Roamin' Donut, Relax It's Just Coffee, and Deja Food will be in attendance and will have delicious food and drinks available for purchase. There will also be a caricature artist, dog-themed product vendors, splash pads, and a raffle full of amazing prizes. T-shirts and bandanas to commemorate the day will also be available for purchase.

The Humane Society of Richland County is a 501c3 non profit, and receives no government funding. Their entire budget is supported through the generosity of community donors. Admission for this event is free, but cash donations or donations of food (Purina dog, puppy, cat and kitten is preferred), cat litter, dog treats, cat treats, bleach, and paper towels are appreciated. For the most up to the minute information on HSRC, follow us on Facebook or go to our website at www.adoptourstrays.com.
