COVID-19 cases are surging locally in Richland County with more than 600 new cases reported in just the last two weeks.
Reed Richmond with Richland Public Health says last August there were only 157 cases for the entire month of August.
Richmond says the numbers they are seeing now are similar to November of last year when things got pretty bad and cases were very high.
