Free public wi-fi in a several-block radius in downtown Mansfield is Phase 1 of a new "Smart City" approach, according to Downtown Mansfield Inc. CEO Jennifer Kime who said "We know a lot people have unlimited data, but we also know a lot of people don't. According to Richland Source, this service will help that segment of the community." The Mansfield Board of Control this week approved spending $47,626 on the project after hearing a presentation from the city Information Technology Director and city engineer.
