Two Arrested In Ashland Following Alert For Stolen Vehicle Out Of New York

Stolen Vehicle Flees From Troopers

Jackson Township – Troopers are investigating after a stolen vehicle attempted to flee in Ashland County.

On Saturday, July 17, 2021 at approximately 1857 hours, reports were received about two individuals possibly using narcotics in the rest area on Interstate Route 71 southbound. Troopers made contact with the vehicle and learned that it was entered stolen out of New York. A female suspect, later identified as Ajia Hasenauer, 28 years old from Batavia, New York, fled from the scene onto Interstate Route 71 southbound. The vehicle reached speeds of approximately 120 MPH before stop sticks were able to be successfully deployed near Mile Post 186.

The vehicle exited onto US 250 westbound towards the City of Ashland and drove through the yards of several businesses before coming to a stop at US 250 and US 42. Both occupants then fled on foot. Ms. Hasenauer was taken into custody and later transported to UH Samaritan with minor injuries. Her male passenger escaped on foot. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office drone team and Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation assisted with the search as well as units from the Ashland Police Department.

The male suspect was later identified as Henry W. Horton, 28 years old from Brockport, New York. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved black shirt and black shorts. The shorts may be rolled up sweatpants with a Nike symbol on the side. Mr. Horton has dark hair which is in a “man bun” and has a beard which is reddish in color. He may appear muddy. If located, please contact the Ashland Police Department, Ashland County Sheriff’s Office or the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

#Update# At approximately 0847 A.M. on July 18th officer’s from the Ashland Police Department spotted a subject matching the description of the suspect in the area of E. Main Street and George Road. His identity was confirmed as Henry Horton and he was taken into custody without incident. He was incarcerated at the Ashland County Jail.
