14-Year-Old Mansfield Boy Found Unresponsive in Pleasant Hill Lake

Perrysville, OH(June 28, 2021) — A report from Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Ranger, Will Gordon confirmed that a 14-year-old boy from Mansfield, OH received medical intervention after being pulled from the swimming beach at Pleasant Hill Lake Park located in Perrysville, OH on Sunday, June 27 just after 2:00 p.m. A name has not been released until all family members have been notified.

The boy was swimming at the beach with family when he was reported missing. After a short search, he was recovered from approximately 33 inches of water. Nearby beach guests first began CPR which was then taken over by MWCD Rangers, and EMS. WhoaZone staff provided an AED which was administered on scene. He was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield. MWCD Rangers were notified by the Richland County Coroner's Office that the boy later died. MWCD Rangers continue to gather information relating to the incident.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the family who lost their loved one,” said Craig Butler, Executive Director from MWCD. “I am proud of the MWCD Rangers, and all involved and who worked quickly and diligently to begin CPR and first-aid in attempts to save the boy. It is so tragic to hear of this loss.”

An investigation is ongoing.
