Bucyrus, OH – The third week of July will be here soon and the Crawford County Senior Fair Board can’t wait for everyone to come out and enjoy the fair. The 164th Annual Crawford County Fair will run July 19th – 24th and the theme this year is “American flair at our fair.” To support local efforts to provide COVID-19 vaccine, the fair board has provided Crawford County Public Health with 100 one-day passes to distribute to people that get a COVID-19 vaccine between May 17 – 21, 2021.
Rebecca Miller, Crawford County Fair Secretary/Manager proposed the idea of thanking people that get vaccinated before attending the fair this summer. “Supporting efforts geared at ending the pandemic and getting our lives back to normal just makes sense. We want people to be able to gather together to enjoy the events in our grandstands and barns. Thanking people for getting vaccinated before they come to the fair with a one-day pass is just a small token of appreciation. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in July at the Crawford County Fair” Miller expresses.
Roger Auck, Crawford County Senior Fair Board President, further adds, “The Fair Board fully supported Rebecca’s idea of helping our local health department with their efforts to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to people that want to get vaccinated. We are planning on another great fair complete with rides, great food, tractor pulls, the demolition derby, and barns full of 4-H Livestock and Department 1 projects. Families can fully expect to have a good time and we want them to be safe while enjoying the fair.”
Crawford County Public Health is offering both the Moderna (2-doses, 28 days apart) and the Johnson & Johnson (single-dose) COVID-19 vaccines that are currently authorized for those age 18 and older. Clinic options throughout the week include morning, afternoon, and early evening choices. To schedule an appointment, please call (419)562-5871. The first 100 people to receive a COVID-19 vaccine during the week of May 17th will be offered a one-day pass to the 2021 Crawford County fair.
“We are always grateful for local support from our community agencies and businesses. Our goal continues to be to vaccinate everyone in Crawford County that wants to be vaccinated,” explains Kate Siefert, Crawford County Health Commissioner.
Participants should only attend a clinic if they are not currently feeling ill, are not under isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19, and have not received a vaccine of any kind (tetanus, shingles, flu, etc.) within fourteen (14) days of the clinic.
