Montgomery Township – Troopers are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Interstate Route 71 southbound near Mile Post 184 on Saturday, April 10, at approximately 0358 hours.
A 2017 Hyundai Accent was southbound on Interstate Route 71 when it drove into the center median, striking a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox which was parked on the left shoulder.
The driver of the Hyundai, Alexsa Christa Rae Smedly, 22 years old, from Cleveland, Ohio, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Dabree S Anderson, 35 years old, from Columbus, Ohio, sustained possible serious injuries. An occupant of the Chevrolet, Jaqual Monae Snelling, 29 years old, also of Columbus, Ohio, sustained serious injuries. All three were transported to Ohio Health Mansfield via ground transport.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by Ashland Fire and EMS and Mifflin EMS.
Impairment appears to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
