Regional Planning Commission: Change Could Affect Mansfield Federal Funding

The Richland County Regional Planning Commission says a change by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget could affect the amount of federal grant money coming into the county.

RichlandSource.com reports the change in Metropolitan Statistical Area Designation could see Mansfield compete with small communities for funding. Right now, an MSA city needs to have a population of 50,000, while the change would make the new requirement 100,000. Mansfield mayor Tim Theaker said it could extremely affect federal funding.
