Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash

Wakeman Township –The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on March 10th, 2021 at 11:50 PM. The crash occurred on US 20 at Fitchville River Road in Huron County.

Jerrold L. Emmons, 53, of Cardington, OH, was driving a 2008 Honda CRV northbound on Fitchville River Road. George W. Wolfe Jr., 54, of Crestline, OH, was driving a 2017 Kenworth Semi eastbound on US 20. Emmons failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the right side of Wolfe’s semi-trailer. Both vehicles came to final rest in the eastbound lane of US 20.

Emmons sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt. Emmons was transported from the scene by Citizens EMS to Morman Funeral Home . Wolfe was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Interstate Towing

. Alcohol usage is suspected to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation. Assisting on scene were Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Police Department, Wakeman Fire Department, Citizens EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, Huron County Coroner, and Interstate Towing.
