Madison School District Looking At Staff Reductions Due To Deficit

The Madison School Board of Education this week voted to start looking into staff reductions, according to RichlandSource.com.

Superintendent Rob Peterson said it’s because of the financial position the district is in currently, but it’s not known the exact number of positions that will be eliminated.

Madison this year (2021) has a projected spending deficit of $1.25 million and next year (2022) of $1.9 million.

The district does have a levy renewal on the ballot for 2022, but it won’t be enough to cover the projected deficit.
