Mansfield City Council Approves Main Street Design Plan

Mansfield City Council this week approved the two year design plan for the Main Street Corridor project.

RichlandSource.com reports the vote actually wasn’t scheduled until next month, but city engineer Bob Bianchi says the early vote and approval will allow them to get started. The plans will see significant and major improvement to the downtown corridor, including new lighting fixtures, sidewalks and brick crosswalks to make the area more pedestrian friendly.

The design cost is a little over $1 million, which 90% will be covered by a federal grant. Mansfield’s cost will be $100,000 and be paid by sales tax money.

Overall, the project has a price tag of $7.5 million, which around 75% will be covered by grants.
