City of Shelby Reporting 5 Deaths From COVID-19 Over Last Two Days

The Shelby City Health Department is reporting COVID-19 activity over the past 48 hours with a combined total of 5 new cases (5 new cases from the general population and 0 new case from a long-term care facility population) ,as well as, 11 recovered/resolved cases (11 general population & 0 long term care population)

The Department has documented a total of 591 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak began in March. Of that cumulative number, 495 individuals have attained recovered/resolved status.

The Department is currently monitoring 79 active cases (35 general population and 44 long-term care facility population) with 75 individuals in quarantine (35 general population and 40 long-term care facility) and 4 individuals hospitalized (0 case from general population and 4 cases from long-term care facility population).

There have been 17 COVID-19 deaths documented from within our jurisdiction. (3 from general population and 14 from long-term care facility)

Richland County is now under a Level 3, Red status and citizens are strongly urged to stay at home when possible and to follow all COVID-19 protocols and Health Department guidelines, including: frequent and thorough hand washing, careful sanitization, strict physical/social distancing (whether inside or outside of the home), and the consistent wearing of face coverings.
