Madison Township To Have Toxic Substance Removed From Demolition Site

A enviromental assessment found a demolition site, next to the Madison Township fire station, to have a toxic substance that are above an acceptable level.

RichlandSource.com reports, the Madison Township Trustees hired a company out of Lexington to examine a sample of the soil at the site on Expressview Drive.

Troy Cramer of Certified Environmental in Lexington said, it's hard to tell how it got into the site, but the substance that was found was used for cooling transformers back in the 1960's and 1970's.

The cost for removal will be between $60,000 - $75,000.
