City of Shelby Reporting 4th Death Due To COVID-19

The city of Shelby is reporting a 4th death due to COVID-19.

In a press release, the Shelby Health Department is monitoring 88 active cases with 79 people also in quarantine.

The Shelby City Health Department is reporting COVID-19 activity over the past 24 hours with 9 new cases (9 cases from general population and 0 cases from long-term care facility) and 8 recovered/resolved cases (all from general population)

The Department has documented a total of 396 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak began in March. Of that cumulative number, 304 individuals have attained recovered/resolved status.

The Department is currently monitoring 88 active cases (36 general population and 52 long-term care facility) with 79 individuals in quarantine (34 general population and 45 long-term care facility) and 9 individuals hospitalized (2 cases from general population and 7 cases from long term care facility population).

There have been 4 COVID-19 deaths documented from within the population of our jurisdiction.

Richland County is now under a Level 4, Purple status and citizens are strongly urged to stay at home when possible and to follow all COVID-19 protocols and Health Department guidelines, including: frequent and thorough hand washing, careful sanitization, strict physical/social distancing (whether inside or outside of the home), and the consistent wearing of face coverings.
