City Of Shelby COVID-19 Update: 9 New Cases, Monitoring 87 Active Cases

The city of Shelby released their latest COVID-19 update on Tuesday, Dec. 8th at 2 pm. Below is the press release provided to WMAN by the city of Shelby.

The Shelby City Health Department is reporting COVID-19 activity over the past 24 hours with 9 new cases and 8 recovered/resolved cases. The Department has documented a total of 347 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak began in March. Of that cumulative number, 257 individuals have attained recovered/resolved status as of this report. The Department is currently monitoring 87 active cases (44 general population & 43 long-term care facility) with 86 individuals in quarantine and 1 individual hospitalized. There have been 3 COVID-19 deaths documented within our jurisdiction.

Richland County is now under a Level 4, Purple status and citizens are strongly urged to stay at home when possible and to follow all COVID-19 protocols and Health Department guidelines, including: frequent and thorough hand washing, careful sanitization, strict physical/social distancing (whether inside or outside of the home), and the consistent wearing of face coverings.
