Ashland Native Named Wooster Patrol Trooper Of The Year For 2020

Wooster – The Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has selected Trooper Josiah D. Custer as its 2020 Trooper of the Year.

The selection of Trooper Custer, 25, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2020 while at the Wooster Post. His fellow officers stationed at the Wooster Post chose Trooper Custer based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper Custer joined the Highway Patrol in 2016 and has served at the Wooster Post his entire career. Originally from Ashland, Ohio and a graduate of Temple Christian High School, Trooper Custer attended Pensacola Christian College. Trooper Custer has earned the Safe Driving Award, ACE Award for vehicle theft apprehensions, his Physical Fitness Ribbon – Star Level and is a Field Training Officer.

Trooper Custer and his wife, Cassidy live in Ashland with their two children Brady, 2 and Daxx, 1.

This is Trooper Custer’s first time being selected for this honorable award.
