Mansfield's 179th Airlift Wing is one of two possible locations in the country for a new mission in regard to cyber security.
RichlandSource.com reports, the US department of defense recently notified Ohio Governor Mike DeWine that Mansfield has been chosen as a candidate by the US Air Force to possibly be the location for the new mission, called "Warfare Wing."
The exact details are not yet known, but Major General John Harris said, it would put them in the middle of the military's cutting edge of cyber capabilities and the fight against cyber threats.
The other location in the running is St. Paul International Airport in Minneapolis. The mission is set to get underway in 2022.
