The Mansfield PD has released an update and investigation into Monday night's shooting on Sturges Ave.
The Mansfield Division of Police is investigating a “drive-by” shooting incident which occurred at 136 Sturges Avenue last night at approximately 10:58PM. The victims, five (5) in total, were struck while outside of the residence during a party and after several gunshots came from a passing vehicle. Approximately 8-10 people were outside the house at the time of the shooting, with an unknown number of additional people inside the residence.
All five (5) victims, including a 17 year old juvenile, were transported to a local hospital for treatment while suffering from at least one gunshot wound. One female victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was still in surgery as of early this morning.
4 of the shooting victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the 5thvictim, who had been taken into surgery with multiple gunshot wounds, was still being treated at a local hospital.
Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene to assist patrol units and interview several witnesses. A search warrant was served at the location and numerous spent shell casings as well as an unspecified amount of suspected drugs and other evidence was collected. There is no suspect and/or vehicle information to release at this time as Detectives are attempting to obtain any information that may be helpful in the case as they follow-up on leads.
