Troopers Investigate Serious Injury Crash

Milton Township – The Ashland Highway Patrol Post is investigating a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred Wednesday at approximately 4:34 P.M.The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 603 County Road 1475.

Carmen M. Liederbach, 64, of Ashland, Ohio, was eastbound on County Road 1475 in a 2013 Nissan X-terra.Kyle W. Bernhard, 33, Shiloh, Ohio was southbound on State Route 603 in a 2004 International Semi-Tractor.Liederbach failed to yield the right way as she attempted to cross over State Route 603.Liederbach was struck by Bernhard within the intersection.After impact, Liederbach went off the left side of the roadway and overturned.Liederbach had to be extracted from the vehicle by mechanical means.

Carmen M. Liederbach was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield before being transported by Med-Flight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Kyle Bernard was not injured in the crash.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the traffic crash.

Seatbelts were worn by both Liederbach and Bernard.

The traffic crash remains under investigation.

The Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland City Fire and EMS, Ohio Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector’s, Bate’s Towing and Aber’s Towing.
