City Of Shelby Reports 1st COVID-19 Death

Shelby mayor Steve Schag says that the city is reporting it's first death from the Coronavirus.

It is with sadness that the Shelby City Health Department is reporting its first Covid-19 death within its jurisdiction.

A 74 year old man died yesterday. He was not a resident of a congregate facility.

The Department has documented a total of 62 individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began in March. Of that cumulative number, 58 have attained recovered/ resolved status. The Department is currently monitoring 3 active cases – 2 of which are home quarantined and one is hospitalized. This is the first Covid-19 death to be documented within the City of Shelby.

Citizens are urged to observe all Covid-19 protocols and Health Department guidelines including: sanitization social distancing and face coverings.
