Mansfield City Council To Vote To Tranfer 10 Parks To Land Bank

Mansfield City Council next month is set to vote on the $29 million master parks plan.

Council President Cliff Mears said part of the legislation is for Mansfield to transfer 10 of it's 30 parks to the Richland County Land Bank.

Mears says some of the properties that are listed as parks are in swampy area's and don't have public value. The 10 parks make up 24 parcels of land, but legally the city can't sell.

Right now, the Mansfield Parks Department is mowing 335 acres of parks by just 4 employees.

The vote on the parks plan is set for Oct. 20th.
