Mansfield Man Involved In Fatal Crash On US 250 In Wayne County

Franklin Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 15:59 p.m. on US-250 east of Oil City Rd. in Franklin Township in Wayne County.

The crash involved a red 2019 Chevrolet Silverado hauling a flatbed trailer driven by Donald N. Carns 62, of Mansfield, Ohio, and a black 2017 Lincoln MK-C driven by Mickayla L. Vaglia 18, of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania.

Initial investigation revealed Ms. Vaglia was attempting to turn left out of a private driveway on US-250 on the north side of the roadway. Mr. Carns was traveling westbound on US-250 approaching the private driveway. Ms. Vaglia failed to yield from the private driveway and was struck by Mr. Carns’ vehicle. Ms. Vaglia’s vehicle spun around several times traveling off the north side of the roadway. Mr. Carns’ vehicle traveled across the centerline off the south side of the roadway striking a ditch, utility pole and a stop sign.

Ms. Vaglia sustained serious injuries in the crash. Ms. Vaglia’s front right seat passenger, Robin S. Vaglia 55, of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Vaglia was transported to Wooster Community Hospital by the Wooster Township Fire Department.

Mr. Carns did not sustain any life threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported by Wooster Community Hospital by Wooster Township Fire Department. Mr. Carns’ passenger, Titus H. Zimmerman 39, of Greenwich, Ohio sustained minor injuries in the crash. He declined to be transported to the hospital.

Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in this crash. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
