Galion Woman Flown to Columbus Hospital After Crash In Marion County

Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on August 16, 2020, at approximately 11:10PM on State Route 309 west of mile post 25 in Claridon Township, Marion County.

The crash involved a 2003 Honda CR-V, driven by Zachary T. Beeney, age 22, of Marion, Ohio, and a 2008 Mercury Mariner, driven by Aileen Hunt, age 60, of Galion, Ohio. Preliminary investigation indicated that Ms. Hunt was traveling eastbound on State Route 309. Mr. Beeney was traveling westbound on State Route 309, drove left of the centerline into the eastbound lane and struck the Mercury Mariner head on.

Mr. Beeney was transported by First Consolidated to Marion General Hospital and then flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Ms. Hunt was transported by Marion Township to Marion General Hospital and then flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, First Consolidated Fire Department, Marion Township Fire Department, Pleasant Township Fire Department, Kirby’s Towing, and Precision Towing. This crash remains under investigation
