Proposal Could See Mansfield Water Rates Rise 70% Over Next 6 Years

According to a new proposal, Mansfield could see its water rates rise around 70% over the next 6 years.

RichlandSource.com reports, this would help pay for the city's $35 million renovation and upgrade to its water treatment plant.

EPA mandates are requiring the upgrade and raising of rates, according to Council President Cliff Mears.

Rates would increase 10% next year, 15% in 2022 and another 15% in 2023, 10% in 2024 and 3% each in the following two years.

Mansfield is currently underway with its project to replace all water meter's in the city, which is seeing Mansfield lose $100,000 in revenue per month with the old meter's
