Marilyn John To Return Campaign Donation From Householder

Richland County Commissioner Marilyn John says she is returning a more than $13,000 donation to her campaign from Friends of Larry Householder, the House Speaker's campaign.

John, who defeated Nathan Martin in the Republican Primary for the seat in the Ohio House, told RichlandSource.com in an e-mail, the allegations are incredibly troubling and if these are true, this kind of public corruption cannot be tolerated.

John, who received the donation from Householder back in January, is working with her campaign treasurer to return his campaign contribution.

John also said she is renouncing the endorsement of her campaign by Larry Householder.

U.S. Attorney Lays Out Bribery Case And Charges Against Republican Lawmaker

U.S. Attorney David DeVillers says he is charging Ohio Speaker of the House Larry Householder and four others with racketeering. DeVillers held a press conference yesterday to discuss the charges a few hours after FBI agents arrested Householder, his aide Jeff Longstreth, former Ohio Republican Chair Matt Borges, and lobbyists Neil Clark, and Juan Cespedes. DeVillers said the men accepted nearly 61-million-dollars in bribes to help pass a controversial energy bill that tacked a surcharge on Ohio energy consumers to help bail out two unprofitable nuclear power plants owned by FirstEnergy Solutions. DeVillers called the scheme quid-pro-quo or play-to-play and hinted that there could be more indictments in the future.
