Gov DeWine, Other Officials Calling On Indicted House Speaker To Resign

Governor Mike DeWine is joining several other state officials in calling for the resignation of Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder. DeWine issued a statement on Tuesday following Householder's arrest on racketeering and bribery charges, saying even with the presumption of innocence, the nature of the charges makes it impossible for the Speaker to effectively lead the House of Representatives. Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, Attorney General Dave Yost, and Democratic minority leaders also called for Householder to step down. This is Householder's second stint as Speaker after previously serving from 2001 to 2004 when the FBI investigated him for alleged money laundering in a case that ultimately saw no charges filed.
