Richland County Commissioners Tell Officials To "Buckle Down" On Spending

The Richland County Commissioners on Tuesday in a meeting with other elected officials, told them to "buckle down" on spending, according to RichlandSource.com.

Sales tax revenue for March was down 18% and April about 17% due to the pandemic. More than 60% of the counties revenue comes from local sales tax.

Commissioner Tony Vero said they have not asked for layoffs or furloughs.However, Commissioner Marilyn John said looking at the 2021 budget, some departments were looking to hire new positions and some 3% pay increases, those John said are probably not going to happen.
