More than 35,000 Ohioans filed for unemployment last week. The state says the total number of claims filed over the past 17 weeks is nearly 1.5 million.
According to date released in late June, Ashland County's unemployment rate was just over 9.5%, which ranks as the 9th lowest in the State of Ohio.
Numbers released back in May showed Ashland County is one of only 10 counties in the state to have an unemployment rating below 10%.
Federal unemployment benefits, giving recipients an extra 600-dollars per month, are set to expire on July 25th.
