Mansfield mayor Tim Theaker and 3 other members of City Council don't believe masks should be mandatory in the city at this time, according to RichlandSource.com.

The question was posed to the Mansfield administration after face coverings are now mandatory in 7 other Ohio counties.

Richland County, which has had 350 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March, is one step below the level making masks mandatory, according to the State Health Department Public Health Advisory Alert System.

Theaker said, Larger cities in Ohio have seen numbers spike, but not in Mansfield. He said at the present time masks are not required, but he is urging people to wear them in retail establishments and practice social distancing.

The state of Ohio had just shy of 1,300 new cases of the coronavirus yesterday...and now more than 60,000 since March.
