Richland County Might Be Able To Use COVID-19 Funds To Pay Safety Forces

Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero says, federal COVID-19 relief funds might be able to be used to help pay safety forces.

RichlandSource.com reports, Richland County is expected to receive around $2 million dollars, as part of the CARES ACT, which was approved back in March.

Vero, who said he has looked at the guidelines and spoke with state and federal officials, feels the money can be used to help pay 9-1-1 dispatchers, corrections officers and Sheriff's deputies.

Vero went on to say the money can't be used for revenue shortfalls and estimates Richland County will be about $1 million dollars short of projected revenue over the next 3 months.
