Mansfield Police Review Board Started in 2003

A review of Police policy has been a topic of discussion following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

RichlandSource.com reports,locally in Mansfield, there is a Police Review and Community -Police Relations commission, which was started by City Council back in 2003.

The 7 member panel meets every other month and is appointed by City Council for a two year term, with a maximum of four consecutive terms.

Bill Freytag, who is on the committee, said the panel reviewed 19 complaints last year in 2019.

Mansfield's Safety Service Director Lori Cope, who is also a member of the committee, said their purpose is to confirm that the police thoroughly conducted any investigation.
