Shelby Health Department COVID-19 Documentation

Some members of Shelby City Council are calling for change in the way the Shelby Health Department has documented complaints about COVID-19.

RichlandSource.com reports, that Council on Monday passed the first reading of the ordinance to bring structure to the process of investigating a complaint.

Mayor Steve Schag noted that COVID-19 complaint's don't yet have a form for documentation, but are being recorded in a notebook. He went on to say the complaints are being documented, but just not on a proper form. The legislation, if passed, would then have the health commissioner record the complaint, and outcome of the complaint for public record.

Schag said the department does have a set complaint process it follows, however, he went on to say, the COVID-19 crisis did throw the department for a loop.
