Vero, John Win Primaries, Bellville and Ashland Tax Levies Pass

Local Elections Results From April 28th

Richland County turnout was 21%

AshlandCounty turnout was 23%

The Republican primary race for Richland County commissioner, Tony Vero defeated David Morganstern – Vero received nearly 70% of the vote.

State Representative for the 2nd district saw Marilyn John get 70% of the vote and defeat opposition Nathan Martin.John will now face Sam Grady in November.

The race for Richland County Probate Judge, Kirsten Pscholka-Gartner, in what may be too close to call, received nearly 150 votes more than Joe Jerger. The winner will face Kelly Badnell in the fall.

Mark Romanchuk, who is running for the Ohio Senate, was a winner in the Republican primary. Romanchuk will now go against democrat Steve Johnson of Ashland in November. Romanchuk received 58% of the vote.

The Ashland road repair income tax of .025 passed with 79% of voters in favor of the levy, which over the last 4 years, has paved over 55 miles of roadway.

Karen DeSanto Kellogg got 60% of the vote and was the winner in the race for Ashland County Common Court Pleas judge.

Village of Bellville tax levy was approved by voters, with 256 saying yes, while 113 voted against levy.

Richland County board of elections director, Paulette Hankins, said there are nearly 1,900 absentee ballots which were issued, but not returned yet. The board will have to see how many come back with a postmark of April 27th.
