Mansfield Fire Chief Concerned About COVID-19 In Local Prisons

The previous outbreak in coronavirus cases in prisons in Ohio, has Mansfield Fire Chief Steve Strickling concerned.

RichlandSource.com reports, that in the last year, Strickling says his paramedics and firefighters have responded to Mansfield's two prisons 95 times, which is about 2 times per week.

Close to 4,000 inmates across the state have tested positive for COVID-19. So far, numbers have been low at the Mansfield Correctional Institution, where one inmate and 3 staff members have tested positive.

The Richland Correctional Institution has one suspected case of the coronavirus, according to the Ohio Department of Corrections.

Both of Mansfield's prisons have more than 5,000 inmates combined, along with close to 1,000 staff members.
