A foreign exchange student in Shelby got a nice send off this week. 16 year old Maria Centron is from Paraguay and has lived in Shelby for the last 8 months, but had her return trip home moved up from mid-June. due to COVID-19.
RichlandSource.com reports, her host parents Tom and Char Yetzer arranged friends to drive by their home holding up signs and waving, so Maria could say her goodbyes. They wanted to do something special since she couldn't have a party, prom or graduation.
Maria said she is sad and doesn't want to leave. She made so many friends and enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball in Shelby.
