The lights at Arlin Field will be turned on at 8:20 this evening – Monday, April 20 – to honor the Mansfield Senior High School Class of 2020.
The stadium will be closed but the lights will remain on for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
Mansfield City Schools is joining area districts and many others across the state to recognize seniors whose year has been disrupted by the impact of COVID-19.
“Our seniors may not be able to enjoy traditional events – prom, Class Day and commencement -- because of the disruptions caused by the coronavirus,” Superintendent Stan Jefferson said. “We don’t know yet what options we may have in the weeks and months to come, but we will turn on the stadium lights tonight as a way to show our seniors how much we love them. We will honor them for their achievements as we light up our best wishes for their futures.”
Jefferson urged anyone who would like to join in recognizing the senior class to turn on their porch lights at 8:20 p.m. for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
Richland Source reported that other area districts who will turn on stadium lights tonight include Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Galion and Wynford.
