Mansfield Police Report: Stabbing Victim Succumbs to Injuries

At approximately 1:10PM Friday, the Mansfield Division of Police received notification that stabbing victim Cindy Powell (B/F, 46 years old) had passed away as a result of her injuries.

Ms. Powell was a victim of a stabbing attack that had occurred earlier this week on Altamont Avenue (see prior News Release #19).

The suspect in the stabbing, Ricky Porter (B/M, 55 years old), later turned himself in to authorities on April 7th, after a “Felonious Assault” warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with the stabbing.

Mr. Porter had fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. However, witnesses at the location immediately identified Mr. Porter as the suspect.

Major Crimes Detectives are now investigating this incident as a homicide and after consulting with the Richland County Prosecutors Office, a felony warrant for “Murder” (F-1) is being processed for Ricky Porter at this time. Mr. Porter remains incarcerated at the Richland County Jail.

Ms. Powell’s death is the 1st homicide of 2020 in our city. We are asking that anyone who may have additional information regarding this crime, to please call Major Crimes Detective J. Mark Perry at (419) 755-9730.
