King Charles III will resume his public duties next week for the first time since announcing his cancer diagnosis in February.

“His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis," Buckhingham Palace announced in a statement obtained by Yahoo News on Friday (April 26). "To help mark this milestone, The King and Queen will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment center next Tuesday, where they will meet medical specialists and patients. This visit will be the first in a number of external engagements His Majesty will undertake in the weeks ahead."

Buckingham Palace didn't specify the form of cancer or the stage in which it was found in its announcement and didn't specify when it revealed the diagnosis. King Charles, 75, ascended the throne during a coronation in May several months after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2023.

Charles' diagnosis came months before his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, announced her own battle against an undisclosed form of cancer amid health speculation. Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis after undergoing a "planned abdominal surgery" in January and speculation of her whereabouts in the weeks following, two months after Charles' reported diagnosis.

Last week, royal family expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed to the Sun that he suspected Princess Catherine was making good progress based on recent public appearances made by her husband Prince William.

Two men are in the Richland County jail on charges of felonious assault.
