Chuck Gleaves has been the Director of Kingwood Center Gardens since 1997. Prior to coming to Kingwood he was the Director of Horticulture at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in botany from the Ohio State University and the University of North Carolina respectively.
In addition to working in public gardens his whole career, he is an avid gardener at his ten-acre home where he loves to experiment outside the range of what can be done in a public garden. He enjoys travel, especially garden related travel such as the four garden/bicycle trips to Germany and the summer working at a botanical garden in New Zealand. He has two children who both graduated from Lexington High School and are now both pursuing careers after acquiring advanced degrees and is happily married to his wife Anna.
