Serious Injury Crash in Richland County

Richland County, Mansfield – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on State Route 181 between Ulmer Road and Horning Road at around 3:42 PM. The crash occurred when a 1999 maroon Ford Explorer was driving east on State Route 181. The Ford Explorer drove partially off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected, and slid off the left side the roadway crashing into a ditch and overturning into a field. A passenger inside the Ford Explorer was ejected from the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ford Explorer sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene. Three of the passengers also suffered non-life threatening injuries and were also treated at the scene. The passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle was transported from the scene by Med-Flight.

The names of the driver and passengers inside the Ford Explorer are not being released at this time since they are juveniles.

Crestline Police Department, Crestline Fire Department, Springfield Township Fire Department, Med-Flight and Ronk’s Towing assisted on scene. State Route 181 was closed in both directions for approximately 90 minutes. Both lanes of travel are now open.
