A burglary in progress was reported occurring at 3026 Hastings-Newville road today at 1245 pm. A description of the subject was given, who was observed carrying a television from the residence and entering a black car, then heading north on Hastings-Newville road. A deputy responding to the area observed the car on Washington North Road at Sandy Lane. The vehicle fled from the deputy as he was turning around to stop it. As additional deputies responded to the area, various sightings of the vehicle were made, however, deputies were unable to catch up or get near the vehicle due to it fleeing at a high rate of speed.
At 1259 pm, a deputy then spotted the suspect vehicle on Mansfield Lucas road then turning onto Davidson Street where the deputy observed the vehicle go off the right side of the roadway as it approached the hillcrest. Once the deputy went over the hillcrest, he observed that the suspect vehicle had crashed into another vehicle.
Mansfield Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are handling the traffic crash investigation. No deputies were injured or involved in any crash. All occupants were transported to OhioHealth for medical treatment.
Four stolen guns, television and an IPad were located in the suspect vehicle which were stolen from the residence of 3026 Hastings-Newville road.
