Richland County commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a contract with Securus Technologies that will allow Richland County jail inmates to have access to electronic tablets, through a no-cost-to-the-county program. Richlandsource.com is reporting that, the program hopes to stop illegal drugs coming into the facility via mail. The inmates will have access to mail that will be scanned in by an out-of-state company and uploaded to the inmates' accounts. They will also have access to educational/GED programs, religious programming, law library resources, e-books, and movies.
