Downtown Mansfield Becoming More Pedestrian-Friendly

The Richland County Regional Planning Commission began a three-week experiment in making Downtown Mansfield more pedestrian-friendly with the Friday unveiling of changes to West Fourth Street. Alterations to the stretch between Diamond and Main Streets include a painted crosswalk, a handicap-accessible ramp to the road, and extended sidewalks. RCRPC Executive Director Jotika Shetty told RichlandSource.com the project should demonstrate the positive impact of pedestrian accessibility on local businesses.
