The “Coolest Dog” Contest was conducted by The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield. This recently concluded fundraiser was designed to raise funds for the purchase of a transport vehicle for The Friendly House, allowing them to more efficiently carry out their mission of mentoring the children of our area. Together with the generous support of Warren Rupp Inc. and the IDEX Foundation, a mini-bus was purchased for The Friendly House by Director Terry Conard and will be unveiled at the event.

“In celebration of the upcoming 100th birthday of our club, we are so excited to be able to impact The Friendly House in such a positive manner” said Jessica Dulle, Campaign Chairman.

Cash prizes will be awarded to “The Coolest Dog in Richland County” through the support of Richland Bank. Homer will receive $300, second place $200 and third place $100. Dollars raised through the contest went to the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield and were donated to the Friendly House, a 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization located in Mansfield, Ohio.

The 100th Anniversary Committee received dozens of ideas for projects to help support area children. The committee narrowed it down to the top four project concepts to present to the entire club. Ultimately membership voted in favor of the Friendly House mini-bus submission as our legacy project to help celebrate our 100th Anniversary. The contest was held from March 14th through April 26th and sought nominations of “coolest dogs” throughout North Central Ohio.

A $10 entry fee provided you with 10 votes. Each nomination included a digital photograph of your favorite dog and a paragraph describing why he or she is the “Coolest Dog in Richland County.” “In remembrance” nominations were also encouraged. Votes were $1 each with no limit on how many times you could purchase votes. Nominations and voting took place at the website www.gogophotocontest.com/thekiwanisclubofmansfield.
