Shelby 12 year old Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on State Route 61 at Dininger Road around 11:00AM on June 9, 2019. The crash occurred when a bicyclist was westbound on Dininger Road, failed to stop for the stop sign and was struck by 2013 black Jeep Grand Cherokee that was southbound on State Route 61.
The bicyclist was a 12 year old from Shelby, Ohio. The 12 year old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was 61 year old Kimberly Davis of Willard, Ohio. Ms. Davis was not injured in the crash.
Plymouth Fire and EMS, Shelby Fire and EMS and Community EMS responded to the scene along with the Richland County Coroner’s Office. State Route 61 remained closed while the crash was being investigated.
Alcohol and drug usage are not a factor in the crash. The 12 year old was not wearing any protective gear or helmet at the time of the crash.
