Richland County Foundation Awarded Over $8.4 Million in Grants in 2018

The Richland County Foundation held its annual meeting Friday, May 17.

About 130 people attended to hear messages from Foundation President Brady Groves, Chairwoman Glenna Plotts and keynote speaker Mansfield Christian School Superintendent Dr. Cy Smith.

Groves reported the Foundation’s assets were $153,570,296.During 2018, $8,427,603 was awarded in grants which far exceeded any previous year.

Foundation donors were most passionate about supporting community development in 2018 with grants totaling $4,119,773. Other sectors receiving grants last year were education $1,584,914, arts and culture $925,153, children/family/youth $750,534, health services $274,911, human services $274,283, economic development $242,000, churches $145,175 and environment $110,860.

The incoming Board of Trustee members approved by the membership are Debbi Adams, Mechanics Bank vice president, Dr. Norman Jones, Ohio State University- Mansfield dean, Dr. Theresa Roth OhioHealth vice president and Lee Tasseff, Destination Mansfield executive director.

Bruce Cummins, Glenna Plotts and Mark Masters completed three, three-year terms and were recognized for their dedicated service to the board of trustees and the community.

Outgoing Chairwoman Glenna Plotts invited incoming Chairwoman Julie McCready to ceremoniously accept the gavel. Other officers elected were Chair Elect Jessica Gribben, Treasurer Michael Chambers and Secretary Jana Mulherin.
