Infant dies, 10 Injured in Richland County Car Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred on State Route 96 at Ganges Five Points Road around 1:26PM on May 5, 2019. The crash occurred when a 2005 red Ford F-350 was northbound on Ganges Five Points, failed to stop for the stop sign and collided with a 2010 black Dodge Caravan that was westbound on State Route 96. The Dodge Caravan was forced off the roadway and overturned, ejecting several occupants.

The driver of the Ford was 24 year old Matthew McBride of New London, Ohio. Matthew and three juvenile passengers were transported to Mansfield Ohio Health with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was 34 year old Stacey Boggs of Shelby, Ohio. Stacey was transported to Mansfield Ohio Health with life threatening injuries. Passengers, Dreama Mabry, 51 years old, Joshua Boggs, 42 years old and three juvenile passengers of Shelby, Ohio were transported to Mansfield Ohio Health with severe injuries. A juvenile passenger was flown from the scene to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries. An infant sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Franklin Fire and EMS, Shiloh Fire and EMS, Shelby Fire and EMS and Community EMS responded to the scene. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Richland County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene. State Route 96 and Ganges Five Points Road were closed while the crash was being investigated.

It is unknown if alcohol and drug usage are a factor in the crash. Several occupants in the Dodge, and the driver of the Ford were not utilizing seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.
