Man Escapes Ambulance near Mansfield, Steals vehicle, Found on Hanley road

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified that a person that had voluntarily committed himself into Wooster Community Hospital saying he was homicidal and suicidal. That person was being transported by ambulance to Columbus for treatment when he threatened the occupants of the ambulance and was able to flee from the area of Interstate 71 near State Route 39 on foot.

The subject made it to a residence on Hickory Lane where he stole a truck and OSHP notified the Sheriff’s Office.

A resident on Cemetery road near Lucas called the Sheriff’s Office and described the suspect and vehicle that law enforcement was looking for was on her property.

The Sheriff’s Office, OSHP and the US Marshals set up a perimeter. The stolen vehicle was confirmed as the one stolen from Hickory Lane and she last saw the suspect heading towards the wooded area behind her residence in the direction of Hanley road.

The suspect was located on Hanley road at Berry Road. The suspect was taken into custody and was transported to the Richland County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office is charging the suspect with theft of a motor vehicle and OSHP is charging the suspect with menacing.
