Early Voting Starts Tuesday, April 9th

Absentee/Early voting will commence Tuesday April 9th, 2019, either by mail or in person at the Richland County Board of Elections, 1495 W. Longview Ave., Suite 101. The closest entrance is in the back of the Longview Center by the “Vote Here” sign and flag. If you enter through the front entrance, you must take the stairs or elevator down to the lower level. Those who have requested absentee ballots by mail will have their ballot mailed out starting April 9th. Absentee applications to vote by mail are available by going online to: www.richlandcountyoh.us/boe, and then tapping the Absentee Tab at the left, middle side of page, or by calling the office at 419.774.5530 to have a request form mailed to you.

*Please note: Not every precinct will be open for the May 7th, 2019 Election. Some jurisdictions do not have any candidates or issues on the ballot for this Election. The following precincts will not be open for voting in May: All precincts in the City of Shelby, plus the following township precincts – Bloominggrove, Butler, Franklin, all Jefferson precincts, all Madison and Mifflin precincts, both Monroe precincts, Perry, all Ontario and Springfield precincts, Sandusky, Sharon, all 3 Lexington and both Troy precincts, all Washington Township precincts, Weller, and both Worthington precincts.

Shelby 3-B precinct has several voters who reside in the Cass Township portion of their township. These voters will be notified by mail how and where to cast their ballot for the Cass Township issue.

Precincts that will be open for the May 7th, 2019 Primary Election include: All City of Mansfield precincts, Cass, Jackson and Plymouth Township precincts. The City of Mansfield will only have Democrats and an Issue on their ballot. Therefore, voters may only request a Democratic or an Issues Only ballot. Republican candidates were all unopposed for the Primary and were nominated on through to the General Election without a Primary by our bi-partisan board. Voters in Cass, Jackson and Plymouth Townships will only have an issue/s on their ballot (no candidates).

If you want to view your ballot online, or check if your precinct is open for the May Election, please visit our website at www.richlandcountyoh.us/boe. Click on the red, white and blue “Voter View” icon towards the bottom of the home page. On the next page, hit the second tab at the top titled “Registration Information/Sample Ballot”. Enter your first and last name and your date of birth. If you have a ballot for the May Election, it will list your precinct number under “Sample Ballots”. Click on the precinct number (and party affiliation, if applicable) and a sample ballot will display. If you do not have anything to vote on in May, it will state “No Upcoming Elections” beside the text “Polling Place.”
