Sunset Vigil to protest trees removed from Richland County Courthouse

A Sunset Vigil is being held Friday, April 5 at 7:59 p.m. on the Richland County Courthouse Lawn to protest the removal of the trees from the lawn. The organizers of the event are unhappy with the removal of the trees, which the Richland County Commissioners decided to do for pedestrian safety. The Commissioners felt the trees could have become an issue during a storm or high winds.

Commissioner Tony Vero said the plan is part of a beautification project, which will see new trees planted and the placement of the Gold Star Family Memorial Monument in front of the Richland County Administration building.
